Privacy Policy

Summary: Dome is a local-first desktop application. Your projects, files, and settings are stored on your device by default. The project does not operate a service that centralizes your full library. If you use optional features — cloud AI providers, Google Drive or Google Calendar via OAuth, or opt-in analytics — data may be processed as described below.

1. Data stored on your device

By default, content you create or import (notes, resources, attachments, settings, indexing data) is stored locally. The Dome project does not collect that content on its own servers.

Typical local locations include:

macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/dome/
Windows: %APPDATA%/dome/
Linux: ~/.config/dome/

Exact folder names may vary by install or platform; see in-app help or the repository docs if needed.

2. Google services (OAuth)

If you choose to connect Google, Dome uses OAuth 2.0 (including PKCE for Drive) on your computer for optional features. You can disconnect in Settings at any time.

Google Drive

Lets you browse and import files you select into your local Dome library. Tokens are stored locally on your device — not on servers operated by the Dome project for sign-in.

Google Calendar

If you enable sync, Dome can read and manage events according to the permissions you grant. Tokens remain on your device unless another optional service you configure sends data elsewhere.

Google’s use of data connected to your Google Account is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. This page does not replace Google’s terms.

3. Other optional third-party services

If you configure AI or cloud features, the app may send content (for example text from resources, chat messages, or analysis requests) to providers you enable, such as:

OpenAI — OpenAI privacy
Anthropic — Anthropic privacy
Google (e.g. Gemini) when you add a Google API key or use Google as a provider — Google’s Privacy Policy

Local options (e.g. Ollama) follow the choices you set in Settings → AI. API keys you enter are stored on your device and are not sent to the Dome project’s servers for central storage.

4. Indexing and semantic search

Dome maintains a local semantic index (for example Nomic embeddings in SQLite) and hybrid search (vectors, full-text, and graph) over your resources. That data stays on your device. If you use cloud models for document or image understanding, that processing is subject to the provider you choose and your settings.

5. Optional product analytics

The app may offer opt-in product analytics (for example PostHog), controlled in the app and off unless you enable it, per the upstream project’s implementation.

6. Security

Protect your machine (password, disk encryption, OS updates). When you use OAuth or cloud APIs, also use strong account security on those providers.

7. Your rights

You can:

Access and export data through the application, where the feature exists
Revoke Google or other integrations in Settings
Remove local data by uninstalling the app and deleting its application data folder when appropriate

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” line above will change. Continued use of the site or app after changes means you accept the updated policy where applicable.
